Bio-Brite Digital Sunrise Clock and SAD

Seasonal affective disorder is linked to fatigue, low energy levels, depression and mood swings. Research has shown that the cause may be linked to a protein known as a serotonin transporter, which binds to serotonin and clears it from the brain. When this protein is more active, lower serotonin levels can result in depression. The findings show this protein to be more active in the fall and winter.

The researchers are now considering that the timing of exposure to light, not the simple volume of exposure may be more important. The fact that dawn and dusk are closer together in the winter can upset the body's natural rhythms and SAD may reoccur each year. Bio-Brite Digital Sunrise Clock will simulate dawn and can be set to brighten in stages, just bringing you to natural conscious levels gradually. This unit features a built-in 60 watt light and an optional audible alarm. It allows you to choose between 15, 30, 60 and 90 minute dawn sequences and has a 30 minute dusk.
