I never like to take them but I did end up doing so this week for two separate nights. I did sleep well minus the fact that I ended up on the second time waking up with a stiff neck. I swear my mother was right as a child, I sleep on my head. Sad

I do not want this to become addicting, any suggestions from others in the same boat?

If you want to avoid sleeping pills but desire the same effects try Celestial Seasonings sleepytime tea Extra. The extra is valerian root and when I use this within like 20 minutes I am falling asleep. No lasting drowsiness the next day with this either.

That is actually my favorite tea in the world and even that does not make me sleepy enough. It seems I am either too tired to sleep or not tired enough (my mind races). So the thought of being like this any longer is going to drive me mad. It seems the only times I have ever in life slept very well is when I am fully exhausted. First month after little ones are born, when I was on pain meds either for a car wreck or dental work, etc. I need to be normal. Sad

Sleeping pills are not a good idea. My sister has taken them for years and cannot sleep at all without them. Have you tried the white noise to get to sleep? Any of the wonderful sounds you can get with these machines have to be better at getting you to sleep.

You sound like you can't disengage your mind enough to allow yourself to sleep.  Have you been checked for ADHD?  Because this is a common symptom.  Try relaxation techniques that help ease your mind, perhaps?

I can meditate like the best of them but I am not sleeping when I do that and it only chills me out for a small time span. I have not been checked but I am starting to think about it. I run around all day long for work and personal life so when it comes time for days end, sometimes my mind is still stuck in overdrive.
