I have a 10 year old son who suffers from this sleeping disorder. He has been sleepwalking for the past few years and this mostly occurs when he has a fever. Sometimes he sleepwalks even if he's not sick. What worries me most is that his bedroom is located upstairs. I couldn't leave him alone sleeping in his room because I am concerned with his safety. Anyone here can give me some advice?

There are these mats that you can put on the floor next to his bed. They use them in nursing homes and they have an alarm that sounds when his feet touch it. The alarm will alert you that he is getting out of bed and you can stop him from sleepwalking. You can also try moving his bedroom to the lower level of your home so he doesn't fall down the stairs at night.

Wow that is really neat Insomniac I am sure my parents wish they had those when I was growing up...they finally had to get an alarm system because we lived on a busy highway and I always headed for the back door. Sleepy..you could also maybe try a childproof gate at the top of the stairs.
